Introduction: Classic Meets Modern – The Return of the Iceman

With the Ibanez IC420MFM-CML Caramel Burst Low Gloss, Ibanez brings back a legendary design in a modern, stylishly reimagined version. The iconic Iceman shape, famous in the rock and metal scenes of the ’70s and ’80s, is presented here in an elegant Caramel Burst Low Gloss finish with high-quality woods and reliable hardware. The combination of classic character and contemporary features makes this model the ideal choice for style-conscious guitarists who value tone, comfort, and expressiveness.

With a set neck, bolt-on maple top, bound maple fretboard, and two powerful Super 80 humbuckers, the IC420MFM not only makes a strong visual statement but also delivers exceptional sound across the board —from bluesy crunch to a rich rock sound to powerful lead playing. A matching gig bag is included and rounds out the complete package.

Manufacturer: Ibanez – Versatility with Tradition

For decades, Ibanez has stood for innovative guitar designs with a strong identity. The Iceman models, in particular, enjoy cult status among guitarists who value a unique look and distinctive sound. The IC series combines classic rock spirit with modern technology, turning every performance into a stylistic statement.

The IC420MFM-CML is an excellent example of how Ibanez blends design history with modern playing needs. It’s designed for guitarists who not only want to sound great but also want to stand out visually from the crowd—without sacrificing playability or versatility.

Technical Details: Sound, Comfort, and Character

The guitar’s body is crafted from resonant okoumé, a lightweight tonewood with a balanced tonal profile—ideal for assertive riffs and warm leads. The striped maple top not only adds an extra sparkle to the tone but also creates a visual highlight with its grain pattern. The elegant Caramel Burst Low Gloss finish gives the guitar a stylish, natural look with a subtle sheen.

The glued-in 3-piece okoumé neck ensures excellent vibration transfer and a comfortable feel. With the “IC” neck profile, a thickness of 20 mm at the 1st fret, and 22 mm at the 12th fret, the neck offers comfortable playability for a wide variety of playing styles. The scale length is 628 mm—slightly shorter than on classic RG models—which makes playing bends, chords, and fast runs particularly comfortable.

The bezeled maple fretboard offers a bright, brilliant response and features acrylic block inlays that evoke classic designs and underscore the guitar’s vintage flair. 22 medium frets ensure a comfortable playing feel with plenty of control, especially for rhythm-oriented guitarists. The plastic nut, 43 mm wide, fits the neck profile perfectly and supports balanced string action.

Two Ibanez Super 80 humbuckers are responsible for the sound—known for their clear, punchy tone with a slight vintage character. Whether it’s heavy rhythm work, open crunch sounds, or creamy leads—these pickups deliver the right tone in every situation. A 3-way switch, along with two volume and two tone controls, allow for flexible control of the sound spectrum—from classic to modern.

The Gibraltar Performer bridge ensures excellent intonation, comfort, and sustain. The Quick Change III tailpiece allows for quick and easy string changes, ideal for live performances. The Ibanez tuners ensure stable tuning and, together with the gold hardware, stylishly round out the hardware package.

The guitar comes with a gig bag that safely protects the IC420MFM—whether on the way to rehearsal, the studio, or the stage.
