Novation Bass Station II Swifty Edition Ltd. Product Details

Novation Bass Station II Swifty Edition Ltd. - Limited edition synthesizer icon with artistic flair

The Novation Bass Station II Swifty Edition Ltd. is not only a powerful paraphonic analog synthesizer, but also a real collector's item. This special edition was developed in close collaboration with British graphic designer Ian "Swifty" Swift, whose work has shaped the visual legacy of labels such as Mo' Wax and Talkin' Loud. Featuring an eye-catching blue and white design and over 60 new artist-designed patches, this instrument combines uncompromising sound quality with artistic expression. The Bass Station II Swifty Edition is a tribute to the synthesis of sound, culture and creativity - and a powerful answer to the needs of modern music creators.

Novation - A brand that writes sound history

Since the early 1990s, Novation has been synonymous with innovative, groundbreaking synthesizers and controllers that are at home in studios and on stages around the world. The original Bass Station laid the foundation for analog power in a digital environment back in 1993. The Bass Station II Swifty Edition Ltd. continues the legend in a visually and sonically enhanced form. In close collaboration with Swifty, an icon of graphic design in the British music scene, a synthesizer version has been created that not only impresses with its inner values, but also with its outer design.

Technical details of the Novation Bass Station II Swifty Edition Ltd.

At the heart of the Bass Station II beats a completely analog signal path, consisting of two digitally controlled oscillators (DCOs), a sub-oscillator, noise generator and a flexible mixer section. The two filter types - a classic state-variable filter with switchable modes and a typical acid 24 dB low-pass filter - together with distortion and overdrive, open up a wide range of sonic possibilities, from buttery smooth pads to thumping basslines.

On the modulation side, the device offers two LFOs (with triangle, square, sawtooth and sample-and-hold waveforms) and two ADSR envelopes. PWM, ring modulation and filter modulation by oscillator 2 enable complex sound design, which can be intuitively controlled via dedicated knobs.

The integrated step sequencer and the versatile arpeggiator with 32 steps and extensive pattern options enable the spontaneous creation of rhythmic structures - ideal for live performances and studio experiments. The storable sequences can be recalled with patch accuracy and seamlessly synchronized with MIDI hardware or DAWs.

Thanks to the 25 velocity-sensitive keys with aftertouch, dedicated pitch and modulation wheels and octave shift, the keyboard offers all the features you need for expressive playing. The clear user interface with individually designed controls and graphic elements in Swifty style makes operation not only effective, but also aesthetically unique.

With a total of 124 memory locations - 64 of which are pre-installed at the factory and 60 brand new ones programmed by artists such as Legowelt, Pecq and Maria Chiara Argiro - the Bass Station II provides an extensive sound library that can be easily managed and expanded via Novation Components.

Why the Novation Bass Station II Swifty Edition Ltd. is an excellent choice

The Novation Bass Station II Swifty Edition Ltd. is much more than an ordinary synthesizer - it's a statement. Anyone looking for analog sound quality with modern flexibility will find a tool that sets new standards in terms of both sound and design. The special model offers access to exclusive presets from scene leaders and at the same time the freedom to implement your own ideas in no time at all.

Particularly noteworthy is the AFX mode, which was developed in collaboration with Aphex Twin. This allows each key on the keyboard to be assigned its own preset - ideal for experimental performances or the creation of analog drum kits. This function makes the Bass Station II a particularly creative tool for sound design and live performance.

Thanks to numerous connection options - including MIDI in/out, USB, sustain pedal input and an external audio input - the synth can be seamlessly integrated into any setup. Whether as the centerpiece of your live rig or as a sound machine in the studio, this limited edition delivers the analog sound and inspiring design that artists are looking for today.

The package is complemented by the included Ableton Live Lite software, which already contains many tools for recording, sequencing and live performance.

Conclusion: A work of art in sound and form - the Bass Station II Swifty Edition

The Novation Bass Station II Swifty Edition Ltd. gives a modern classic of the synthesizer world an unmistakable visual update. The combination of analog sound power, inspiring surface and exclusive sounds makes this limited edition a must-have for music creators, collectors and fans of iconic British design culture. Swifty's signature gives the device a unique character - loud, bold, musical. This Bass Station is not just a tool, it is an expression of style, history and creative energy.
