Pioneer DJ DJM-A9

Pioneer DJ introduces the DJM-A9, a next-generation professional DJ mixer. The 4-channel mixer raises the bar for club-standard mixers with huge improvements over its predecessor, the DJM-900NXS2. Stunningly clear sound quality, optimized playability and connectivity, and a host of new features help take performances to the next level.

With the Pioneer DJM-A9, DJ performances will sound better than ever, thanks to a high-quality 32-bit A/D converter from ESS Technology in the channel input section. The master and booth outputs feature a D/A converter of the same type. This combination ensures crystal-clear, natural-sounding audio on the dance floor and in the booth - no matter what genre of music. The microphone input and headphone outputs also offer improved sound thanks to fine-tuning and revised construction with carefully selected new components.

The feel of the DJM-A9 has also been significantly optimized. Various elements have been revised to make playing with the DJ mixer more instinctive and comfortable. These include greater spacing between the EQ knobs. The channel faders and MAGVEL FADER crossfader are smoother than on the DJM-900NXS2, allowing for smoother mixing and scratching. The sound color FX feature the world's first center-lock function, which ensures you don't accidentally switch back and forth between the Hi/Low parameters no matter how fast you turn the knobs.

The Beat FX are even more intuitive to use thanks to the new color display and the redesigned X-pad, which is now horizontal and can be easily edited with a sideways finger movement. A dedicated button is now available for the Beat FX channel selector, allowing for faster effects routing. The multi-I/O section has also been upgraded and now offers a real send. A total of 14 beat FX are available, including three new effects.

An improved microphone section opens up new possibilities when streaming, emceeing or singing. Thanks to phantom power, used for the first time in a DJ mixer, condenser microphones can also be connected directly to the DJM-A9's microphone input. This ensures the best possible sound quality of speech and vocals. To dynamically change the sound of a voice, three different microphone effects and a special reverb effect are also available.

DJ transfer and DJing in pairs is a breeze with the DJM-A9 thanks to the two USB Type-B and Type-C ports. Two PCs/Macs can be connected to these, running either rekordbox or Serato DJ Pro. The mixer's advanced connections open up new possibilities for any performance. Now it's easy to play tracks from a mobile device connected to the DJM-A9 via Bluetooth®/MD. The audio can be routed to any channel and its sound can be altered with all of the mixer's effects.

The Pioneer DJ DJM-A9 is compatible with the upcoming version of rekordbox, which will be released in March 2023. To use the mixer with Serato DJ Pro, it is necessary to purchase a license or subscription for the software and download the latest version. The mixer supports DVS control in both applications.

WiFi connectivity built into the DJM-A9 is useful for front-of-house teams, who can use the new Stagehand app to monitor various mixer information remotely and even control selected functions from an iPad when wirelessly connected to the same LAN router as the decks. This keeps an eye on level meters and track information. This makes it possible to adjust PA settings and troubleshoot without entering the booth or disturbing the DJ.
