Qigong-Kugeln 50mm (Paar) Product Details
The sound balls are also known in German-speaking countries under the names Qigong balls, meditation balls or Baoding balls. Baoding, a city in the north of China, is famous for the production of the small, sounding balls, which are called Jiànshen qiú here. Translated, this means "balls for physical health" and their use is documented from as early as the 14th century during the Chinese Ming Dynasty. In the beginning, spherical nuts and fruits were used more as a pastime and to train dexterity, but soon the balls, now made of stone or metal, were also attributed spiritual and health-promoting effects. If one lets both sound balls rotate in the hand, the female Yin and the male Yang are supposed to be harmonized according to Daoist doctrine. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the rotating movements stimulate numerous acupressure points of the hand. In addition, it is assumed that exercises with the Qigong balls promote the fine motor skills of the fingers and thus promise relief even with arthrosis of the hand and finger joints.
For sound lovers, however, not only the haptic use is of interest, but of course also the musical. Our sound balls consist of a hollow, chrome-plated steel ball in which a spring and a small, freely movable marble are built in. The rotation produces soft, meditative tones, the intensity of which can be intensified with stronger movements and by shaking. This makes the sound balls ideally suited as effect instruments and shakers.
