Percussion Instruments
Percussion or percussion instruments are rhythm and/or effect instruments. They are distinguished from drum sets, even if the latter is merely a combination of different percussion instruments.
Percussion is a practice that has been around since ancient times. The instruments originate from the most different cultures and offer a wide range of sounds and styles. Percussion is used in many genres from classical music to jazz, often to bestow a certain ethnical style or effect. In modern music they are often used as extensions for drum sets.
