Technical details of the RØDECaster Video S

The RØDECaster Video S video and audio production console impresses with its versatility, connectivity and intuitive operation. With a high-resolution 2-inch touchscreen, numerous dedicated buttons and encoder wheels, operation is particularly user-friendly - ideal for solo producers, streaming studios or small production teams.

The control panel is clearly laid out and allows quick switching between up to four video sources and five individually programmable scenes. The AUTO button enables automatic transitions, while the CUT button is responsible for manual cuts. There are also six function buttons for frequently used features such as Fade to Black, Media, Overlay, Multi Source, Keying and Inspect.

The RØDECaster Video S supports three HDMI inputs (1080p) and one HDMI output, which is freely configurable. To connect external devices, the console offers four USB-C ports, including an input for UVC-compatible webcams and two outputs for connection to computers or mobile devices. A separate USB-C port is used for storage on external drives.

The RØDECaster Video S also impresses in terms of audio technology: two Neutrik combo sockets (XLR/6.35 mm) enable the connection of microphones, line signals or instruments. The integrated Revolution® preamps offer up to 76 dB gain with an extremely low noise level - ideal for professional voice and music recordings. In addition, there are two wireless receivers in the device that are compatible with modern RØDE wireless microphones.

Extensive Aphex® effects are available for audio processing: Compressor, Equalizer, De-Esser, Noise Gate, High Pass Filter, Exciter™, Big Bottom™ and Compellor™ - all separately configurable for each input. This means that the sound can not only be optimized, but also professionally tuned without any additional equipment.

Another highlight is the automatic camera switching, which fades in different video sources based on the audio signal - perfect for solo streams or interview formats. Assigned scenes can be quickly checked and adjusted using the "Inspect" function.

The RØDECaster Video S also offers extensive storage and streaming capabilities: Direct recording in H.264 format to an external USB drive, ISO recording from four video sources and a combined program feed are all possible. Live streams can be transmitted directly to platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitch or X via RTMP - wired via Ethernet or wireless via WLAN.

The RØDECaster Video S is also ideally equipped for network cameras: Up to four NDI® sources can be received and an output can be realized via Ethernet - including PTZ control (pan-tilt-zoom). This enables integration into modern, IP-based production environments.
