MODX: compact high-end synthesizers.

When they were first introduced in 2018, the MODX synthesizers already impressed with their extensive features. Inspired by the exceptional functionality and sound of Yamaha's MONTAGE synthesizers, the MODX series combined the multifunctional Super Knob, four faders and a touchscreen with a mix of sample-based and FM sound generation, just like their big siblings. MODX is all about mobility, giving musicians the ability to unleash the power of the MONTAGE synthesis engine on stage without having to carry too much weight. A steady stream of updates to the instruments' functionality and sonic range also helped to inspire musicians and listeners alike from stages around the world.

MODX+: more potential, more sound, more feel

With the new MODX+ models, the hardware is now also undergoing an update. The three new synthesizers offer 1.75 GB of internal flash memory - an expansion of 75 percent! This gives musicians more space for their own samples and synthesizer libraries. The plus also stands for more polyphony, as 128 notes of stereo AWM2 and 128 notes of FM-X allow for extended playing possibilities and a gain in freedom in sound design. Even the feel has been further improved: both the modulation and pitch wheels are now rubberized to deliver more grip and better control during passionate performances. This also makes a MODX+ feel like a MONTAGE.

Powerful synthesizers for performing musicians

All of these improvements enrich the already great playing experience of the Yamaha MODX without compromising its strengths. The MODX+ series also features both synthesis engines: the AWM2 stereo samples for authentic, organic-sounding natural instruments on the one hand, and the FM-X frequency modulation for characteristic, expressive synthesizer sounds on the other. The new models still allow the use of up to 13 simultaneous dual insert effects, plus three additional master effects to shape the sound to perfection. Seamless Sound Switching prevents notes from being cut off when the performance is switched. The extensive sound library offers custom sounds as well as compatibility with MONTAGE, MOTIF XS/XF, MOXF, and even DX and TX (via the free FM Converter at YamahaSynth.com). Via motion control and a programmable matrix, all these sounds can be played, mixed and combined dynamically. The MODX+ are true workhorses for musicians.

Yamaha designed the MODX+ models for the stages of the world. MODX8+, MODX7+ and MODX6+ are designed to take to the road and help musicians reach their full potential in the rush of a live performance. Accordingly, all three models remain comparatively compact in size and weight. Optional cases and stands made specifically for the MODX+ series ensure durability and easy transport.
