Manufacturer

For many decades, Yamaha has been one of the most renowned manufacturers of musical instruments. The brand is known for its successful combination of precise craftsmanship, musical practicality, and reliable quality. The Pacifica series, in particular, has earned a solid reputation among guitarists looking for a versatile instrument with modern features.

The history of the Pacifica series began in the early 1990s in California. Inspired by the local session scene, Yamaha Guitar Development in Hollywood developed a guitar series designed to combine stylistic versatility, craftsmanship, and artistic individuality. This idea remains an integral part of the Pacifica’s DNA to this day. The guitars in this series are not built for a single musical genre, but for players who want to remain flexible.

The Yamaha Pacifica Professional Sparkle Blue takes this concept to a particularly high level. It is manufactured in Japan and is aimed at discerning musicians who value precise craftsmanship, high-quality components, and professional playability. With this model, Yamaha combines traditional guitar-making principles with modern manufacturing methods. This includes, among other things, an alder body design optimized for resonance and vibration transmission.

The Pacifica Professional’s design is also part of the overall concept. The vibrant colors are inspired by Japanese City Pop Art and the sunny vibes of California. The Sparkle Blue finish of the Yamaha Pacifica Professional M Sparkle Blue electric guitar expresses exactly this energy: modern, confident, and creative. This makes the instrument ideal for guitarists who not only want to sound great but also want to make a bold visual statement.

Technical Details

The Yamaha Pacifica Professional M Sparkle Blue electric guitar is a 6-string solid-body electric guitar in the ST style. This body shape is known for its ergonomic playability and versatile musical character. The body is made of alder, a tried-and-true tonewood that offers a balanced tonal character. Alder delivers clear highs, prominent mids, and controlled lows. This creates a fundamental tone that’s ideal for both clean and distorted sounds.

The body is crafted using Yamaha’s Acoustic Design Technology. This technology is designed to specifically enhance the instrument’s resonance characteristics. For you, this means a lively response, good vibration transfer, and a playing feel that reacts directly to your dynamics. This responsiveness is especially important in a professional electric guitar because it ensures that subtle nuances in your playing remain audible and the instrument comes across as musically very expressive.

The neck is made of maple and is bolt-on. A bolt-on neck construction ensures a direct response and a clear, percussive tone. The maple neck features a slim C-profile that’s comfortable to grip and supports both chord playing and fast runs. The Custom-Tinted Satin finish also provides a smooth playing feel. Your hand glides easily along the neck, making long sessions, intense rehearsals, or extended live performances more comfortable.

The fingerboard is made of rosewood and features block inlays. Rosewood complements the clear character of the maple neck with a warm, musical tone. The compound fingerboard radius, ranging from 10" to 14", is particularly comfortable. In the lower registers, the fretboard is slightly rounder, which makes it easier to grip chords comfortably. In the higher registers, it becomes flatter, making bends, vibrato, and fast solo lines easier to control. This combination makes the Yamaha Pacifica Professional Sparkle Blue appealing for many playing styles.

The guitar features 22 medium-sized stainless steel frets. Stainless steel frets are exceptionally durable and provide a very smooth playing feel. There is less resistance when bending strings, which facilitates expressive techniques. Even with intensive use, stainless steel frets retain their shape for a very long time. This is an important advantage for ambitious players who practice, record, or perform regularly.

The scale length is 25.5" or 648 mm. This classic scale length provides tight string tension, clear definition, and precise tone projection. The Yamaha Pacifica Professional M Sparkle Blue electric guitar comes factory-equipped with .009–.042-gauge strings. This makes it pleasantly easy to play, supports comfortable bending, and ensures the sound remains articulate and assertive.

A key feature of this model is the H-S-S pickup configuration. Reflectone HS7n single-coil pickups are located at the neck and in the middle position, while a Reflectone HS7b humbucker sits at the bridge. This combination offers a wide range of sounds. The single-coil pickups deliver transparent, clear, and dynamic tones that are ideal for pop, funk, blues, indie, country, or clean studio work. The humbucker at the bridge adds more punch, richness, and output, making it particularly well-suited for rock, lead tones, and distorted rhythm parts.

The Reflectone pickups deliver a clear and powerful sound that shines whether played clean or distorted. It’s the combination of single-coil and humbucker pickups that makes the Yamaha Pacifica Professional Sparkle Blue particularly versatile. You can switch from bell-like clean tones to crisp mid-range sounds and powerful bridge tones without having to change instruments.

The passive electronics are controlled via a volume control, a tone control, and a 5-way switch. Additionally, the tone control features a push/pull function that allows you to split the bridge humbucker, giving you even more tonal possibilities. The split humbucker delivers a slimmer, single-coil-like character that’s particularly useful for clean passages, rhythmic playing, or classic middle positions.

The hardware is also designed to meet professional standards. The Gotoh 510T FE-1 two-point tremolo offers smooth operation and enables musical vibrato effects. Whether it’s subtle pitch modulations, shimmering chords, or expressive playing techniques—the tremolo expands your range of expression. Combined with Gotoh locking tuners, it ensures excellent tuning stability. At the same time, locking tuners make changing strings easier, which is a noticeable advantage in everyday use.

The Sparkle Blue finish gives the Yamaha Pacifica Professional M Sparkle Blue electric guitar a distinctive look. The finish has a modern, vibrant, and inspiring appearance. It perfectly complements the guitar’s professional character and makes it just as attractive on stage as it is in the studio. The package includes a hardshell case, which ensures safe transport and secure storage. Additionally, a certificate of authenticity is included, underscoring the high-quality standards of this instrument.

Purchase Recommendation

The Yamaha Pacifica Professional M Sparkle Blue electric guitar is recommended for guitarists looking for a professional instrument with a versatile sound range. It’s particularly well-suited for anyone who wants to cover a variety of musical styles and needs a guitar that’s flexible, reliable, and comfortable to play. The H-S-S pickup configuration makes it a true all-rounder: clear single-coil sounds, dynamic middle positions, and powerful humbucker tones are all readily available.

Playability is another strong selling point for this model. The slim maple neck with a C-profile, the rosewood fretboard with a compound radius, and the stainless steel frets combine to create a very comfortable playing experience. Chords can be played cleanly in the lower neck region, while solos, bends, and fast runs in the higher registers come easily. Anyone looking for an instrument that remains comfortable even during long sessions will quickly appreciate these features.

The Yamaha Pacifica Professional Sparkle Blue also offers many advantages for live performance. The Gotoh locking tuners ensure stable tuning, the Gotoh two-point tremolo operates reliably, and the hardshell case protects the guitar during transport. In the studio, it impresses with its flexible electronics and the clear response of the Reflectone pickups. This allows you to access a wide range of sounds directly from a single instrument without compromising musical quality.

If you’re looking for an electric guitar that’s professionally crafted, looks high-end, and remains musically versatile, the Yamaha Pacifica Professional M Sparkle Blue electric guitar is a very compelling choice. It combines Japanese craftsmanship, modern features, comfortable playability, and an expressive design. This makes it ideal for ambitious players looking for a reliable instrument for creative, flexible, and demanding performances.
