KORG phase8 - Eight-voice acoustic synthesizer with physically generated sound
The KORG phase8 is a revolutionary eight-voice acoustic synthesizer that combines the organic nature of physically generated sounds with the precision of electronic control. With its innovative Acoustic Synthesis technology, it enables direct, tactile sound creation and breaks with traditional notions of analog and digital - because phase8 goes far beyond that.
Acoustic Synthesis - tactile sound through vibration
At the heart of phase8 are eight independent electromechanical voices, each with a steel-based resonator. These are physically set in vibration to produce sound - not a sample, not an oscillator, but real movement. The result is a lively, resonating body of sound that reacts directly to touch, touch, stroking or tapping.
Modularity: interchangeable and tunable resonators
The instrument comes with 13 chromatically tuned steel resonators, eight of which can be installed at the same time. Thanks to a simple exchange mechanism, the tuning and sound character can be individually adjusted - creating a highly customizable instrument.
Powerful sequencer with polymetrics
The integrated polymetric sequencer allows both classic step programming and live recording without quantization. Step skips per voice enable complex, offset rhythms. Sequences can be saved in 8 memory locations and recalled at any time.
Modulation & Delay: Lively, evolving sound
phase8 offers three modulation modes: tremolo and two pitch-dependent audio rate modulations - one of which is optionally harmonically quantized. With the Trigger Delay, notes can be shifted vividly through a variable time offset (manually or tempo-synchronized).
Real-time control & physical interaction
phase8 is not only controllable via knobs - it reacts directly to physical touch. Plucking, strumming or tapping can be used to create unique sound textures. The AIR slider amplifies or dampens the acoustic feedback of external materials or objects that interact with the instrument.
Automation & external control
All parameters can be automated via the recording function. In addition, the phase8 is fully controllable via MIDI, USB-MIDI and CV - both incoming and outgoing. It can be tempo-synchronized and can trigger external MIDI instruments via its internal sequence. This makes it a perfect fit for modern studio and live setups.
