Saxhorns are brass instruments that are closely related to bugles. Like the aforementioned their measure is relatively wide. They are named after the French instrument maker and inventor of the saxophone Adolphe Sax. In German nomenclature there are several brass instruments among this category, such as: flugelhorns, alto horns, tenor horns, baritone horns, euphoniums and tubas. In anglophone and/or gallophone areas the flugelhorns and tuba are sometimes left out of this categorization.
