Orange Rockerverb RK50C Neo MKIII Black Product Details
The development of the Rockerverb 50 Mk III Combo in 2015 incorporated plenty of user input to create an amp that shines in any situation. The Clean channel was reworked to offer more bell tones, brighter, longer reverb, better low-end response and articulation, and the characteristic crackling orange sound that is popular not only with heavy musicians, but also with touring and session specialists alike.
Still, there's always room for improvement, and with the latest enhancements to the best combo on the market, the Rockerverb 50 Mk III Combo has been put on a crash diet that helps it achieve a more manageable weight while retaining all of its appealing sonic characteristics. The result is the Rockerverb 50 Mk III Neo Combo - the same beautiful amp, but with an updated speaker and cabinet layout inspired by our PPC212V cabinet, making it 18% lighter than before.
So where did all those pounds go? Well, one small contribution is that the Rockerverb 50's cabinet is now made of 15mm thick Baltic birch plywood, 3mm slimmer than before, but without sacrificing any of the build quality that makes all Orange speakers so robust. The biggest weight savings, however, is thanks to the new Celestion Creamback speakers, which replace the old V30 speakers and save almost 3 kg per speaker thanks to the use of neodymium, a much more magnetic metal than the usual ferrite, which means that less material is needed to achieve the same sonic results.
And the Creambacks are not only easier to transport, they also handle the sound of the Rockerverb 50 better. They retain the authoritative high-mid push of the v30s, but are a bit darker and fuller when the tone goes into overdrive. These UK-built speakers make lead lines more muscular and rounded, and rhythm playing warmer and fatter than ever.
All told, that's a savings of nearly 7 kg over the original Mk III, which is about the weight of a bowling ball you carry around in your combo. Take that weight off, add improved tone, and the best tube combo amp just got even better.
