Thelevi Doppelballrassel Kürbis

Classic double ball rattle Thelevi from Ghana (West Africa) with adjustable string length (max. 13 cm). Excellent quality and great, loud sound.

This double ball rattle consists of two balls filled with ceramic beads that are firmly connected by a cord. A combination of rattling and clicking sounds can be heard when the Thelevi is skillfully turned in the hand. A must for rhythm acrobats!

The thelevi has many names, it is also called kosika, clacker gourd, kashaka, asalato, aslatua or patica. The hard shell fruits do not come from a pumpkin, as the name suggests, but from the "oncoba spinosa" tree. As the hard shells were once used to make containers for storing tobacco, the plant is also known as the snuffbox tree. The name fried egg tree is also commonly used, as the flowers really do resemble fried eggs.
