The Katana Gen 3 is the latest version of the successful BOSS amplifier series and takes your guitar ambitions to the next level. The Katana Artist Head Gen 3 top model offers you the ultimate Katana experience with 100 watts of Class AB power and numerous advanced sound tools. Thanks to new Tube Logic enhancements, the platform benefits from outstanding sound, feel and response. Also included is an expressive Pushed amp type and the unique Bloom option, which changes the feel and response of the amp. The BOSS Tone Studio has also been revised. From now on, your editing workflow will be more intuitive than ever before.

With its groundbreaking Tube Logic amplifier design and customizable Class AB power amp performance, the BOSS Katana series has become a staple in the rigs of guitarists around the world since its launch in 2016. The Katana amplifiers are based on decades of BOSS development experience and combine a professional sound in the style of a tube amplifier with modern advantages such as integrated effects, presets that can be called up at the touch of a button, in-depth sound processing and reduced weight. With the Katana Gen 3, the amplifiers become even more versatile and enable an unprecedented playing experience.

Experience the moment

The Katana Artist Head Gen 3 supports the connection of up to two speaker cabinets for almost any application. The robust Katana Cabinet 212 Waza houses two Waza speakers and has been perfectly matched to the enormous potential of the top. The BOSS custom speakers deliver the authentic sound and response of the legendary 25-watt stack speakers from the 1960s, complemented by modern power limiting capabilities. A 4x12 setup can be created by stacking cabinets. At the same time, the versatile design has a removable back plate to allow the cabinet to be played with both closed and open-back sound.

Optimized Tube Logic sounds

Tube Logic reproduces a tube circuit with all its complex interactions down to the smallest detail. With the further development of the five amplifier characters from the previous Katana models, including the iconic Brown high-gain amplifier, we continue this approach consistently. The new Pushed character illustrates the optimized dynamic processes of the Katana Artist Gen 3. Experience the full dynamic gain structure of a clean combo amp that is driven into saturation. In addition, all six amp characters have a variation, resulting in a total of twelve different sounds. The Bloom switch goes one step further and activates a separate circuit that brings a completely independent sound behavior with it. The sound is given a sharper attack and at the same time a particularly dynamic response in the bass range - two characteristics that are usually difficult to achieve at the same time.

Sweet spot sound at any volume

Every tube amp fan knows that the more you turn up the volume control, the fuller, richer and more dynamic the sound becomes. Unfortunately, the volume required for this is not compatible with all playing situations. This is where external power limiters often come into play, but they can lead to sound artifacts that affect the sound and response of the amplifier. The Katana Gen 3's integrated power control combines the best of both worlds: the playing feel of a fully turned up amp even at moderate volumes without compromising the sound. The control on the front panel allows you to seamlessly adjust the level to any playing situation - from live gigs to playing at home in your bedroom.

Renowned BOSS effects

The Katana Artist Head Gen 3 offers five simultaneously usable effect categories, equipped with a variety of effects from the long BOSS history. The Booster, Mod, FX, Delay and Reverb sections provide optimized sounds and access to a total of 15 effects. There is also an independent solo section with level booster and delay effect. The BOSS Tone Studio offers even more possibilities. Here, 60 effect types and numerous detailed parameters are available, allowing you to precisely adjust the amplifier's internal effects to your preferences. Together with the optional Bluetooth® Audio MIDI Dual Adapter and the BTS Editor app, you can even control and adjust your sounds wirelessly during a gig.

Unrivaled sound editing

The BOSS Tone Studio software for the Katana Gen 3 models has been visually redesigned and offers new graphical settings that allow you to customize your sound even faster and more intuitively. Here you will find numerous tools for amplifier and effect processing, you can change the effect order and shape the overall sound to your liking with the 3-way Contour control and several EQs. In addition to higher-level settings and behaviors, you can also create and manage your own setups for your gigs in the software. You also have access to the BOSS Tone Exchange platform, where you can download professional setups and share your sounds with the global Katana community.

Comprehensive live control

The Katana Artist Head Gen 3 offers a variety of powerful tools for modern performers. Eight memory slots are available for saving and recalling complete amp and effect setups. You will also find separate connections on the rear panel for external control via footswitch, expression pedal and MIDI. The GA-FC and GA-FC EX foot controllers offer even more possibilities, allowing you to comprehensively control your Katana Gen 3 live: switch tone settings, switch effects on/off, use multiple expression pedals and more. In addition, the GA-FX EX has an expansion mode for connecting a second GA-FX model to double the number of footswitches or control two Katana amplifiers simultaneously.

Expand your sound

The Katana Artist Head Gen 3 accompanies you on all creative paths. The Stereo Expand* function allows you to quickly and easily connect two amplifiers together. While the main amp controls the master parameters, the stereo effects such as chorus, delay and reverb are played through both amps to create a particularly wide and immersive sound. Alternatively, you can use the Power Amp In input to bypass the Katana's preamp and use the reactive Class AB power amp as an amplifier for a modeling amp or an external preamp.

Flexible connection

With the connection options of the Katana Artist Head Gen 3, you are equipped for any playing situation. Connect headphones to practice silently in stereo. Send a signal to a PA via the XLR or 6.3 mm line outputs. Or use the USB-C port to record your playing in your favorite music software on a computer or mobile device. All audio outputs allow you to play out the signals with IR speaker sound, including three air-feel types and two customizable settings in BOSS Tone Studio.
