Esi UGM192 USB-Audiointerface Product Details
The ESI UGM192 is an ultra-compact USB audio interface offering 24-bit / 192kHz / 114dB audio quality.
Guitarists will be very interested in the UGM196, which is only 8.7 cm wide and weighs 100 g: a USB 3.1 audio interface that not only offers a jack socket specially designed for high-impedance instruments - i.e. electric guitars and acoustic guitars with pickups - but also a balanced microphone input with switchable phantom power. If you wish, you can convert at an audiophile 192 kHz for solo recordings, for example, but the sound of the UGM192 is crystal clear and crisp even at a sampling frequency of 48 or 96 kHz, and the converter dynamic range is a spectacular 114 dB in any case.
There are three buttons on the front panel: you can activate real-time monitoring of the recording signal (MONITOR), either in stereo or mono; you can boost the recording signal by a flat 20 or 30 dB (MIC GAIN), which is ideal for dynamic microphones; and you can activate phantom power for channel 2 (+48V). Corresponding status LEDs provide information about the selected settings at any time.
On the rear panel there is a 6.3 mm stereo jack, which serves as both line and headphone output. To the left of it, also a special feature, are two USB ports: via the USB-C jack you connect the UGM192 to your computer or mobile device, and via the Micro-USB jack the UGM192 can be powered from a powerbank or with a charging plug if needed, e.g. if the power supply from a smartphone is not sufficient.
Under Mac, the UGM192 is immediately recognized, under Windows ESI's proprietary and extremely low-latency EWDM driver with DirectWIRE comes into play, which also allows audio signals to be routed, combined, split and used simultaneously by multiple audio applications at the driver level. Included with the UGM192 are software licenses for Audified inTone 2, Audified GK Amplification 2 LE, Audified ampLion Free, and Deckadence LE V2.
