Neumann BCM 705 mt Product Details
The BCM 705 is a cost-effective speaker microphone for broadcasting applications. Its entire design is application-oriented in order to convey emotion with Neumann-typical precision. The speech-optimized dynamic capsule is elastically decoupled and has internal pop protection. External noise is minimized thanks to the hypercardioid characteristic.
Emotion with perfection
p>Radio, live streaming and podcasts are the most direct routes to the listener. This inspired Neumann to develop a microphone that is specifically tailored to the needs of speakers and presenters. After all, they are the ones who accompany us through the day and provide us with the latest information. The BCM 705 was developed to convey emotion with technical perfection. Its characteristic shape is functionally optimized for use on typical radio microphone arms. The elastic stand suspension and the capsule's internal spider mount prevent interference from structure-borne sound, while an integrated foam shield protects the capsule from plosive sounds, dirt and nicotine. For quick cleaning, the microphone basket can be removed with a simple twist.
Dynamic
While the sister model BCM 104, with the Neumann logo in red, is a condenser microphone, the green Neumann diamond of the BCM 705 indicates that this microphone works with a dynamic capsule. Moving coil capsules are quite robust, and even if they don't sound as high-resolution as condenser transducers, carefully constructed specimens - like this one - have a very unique appeal that has become the typical "FM radio sound", especially in America, where private radio stations have a long tradition.
The BCM 705 is particularly suitable for local radio stations and small studios as well as for streaming and podcast applications. As it is designed for close pickup and works with a hypercardioid polar pattern, noise is kept out, even if the speaker's booth is not perfectly soundproofed. The frequency response of the BCM 705 is specially adapted to the human voice. A gentle presence boost above 2 kHz improves speech intelligibility, while a gentle bass cut compensates for the proximity effect so that the lower vocal register is sonorous but never boomy. The BCM 705 requires no phantom power and is extremely easy to set up: Just plug it into the microphone input and it's ready to go on air!
Although the BCM 705 is primarily designed for voice applications in broadcast and podcasting, it wouldn't be a Neumann microphone if you couldn't use it in the recording studio as well. Like almost all dynamic microphones, the BCM 705 can easily handle the highest sound pressure levels. This makes it ideal for loud singers, bright brass instruments and deafening guitar amplifiers.
