TritonAudio D2O Mono Product Details
The D2O mono is a high-quality preamp housed in a rugged aluminum case. The portable format is ideal for the new generation of mobile recording interfaces.
The general layout of the D2O consists of a Lundahl 1571 input transformer followed by 2 single-ended gain stages. The second gain stage can be selected as either a high-gain fet or tube stage. When the high-gain fet circuit is engaged, D2O becomes the ideal companion for relatively low output level microphones such as ribbon mics. When the hybrid fet/tube circuit is enabled, the sonic benefits of a tube in the signal path can be enjoyed. The output is driven by a discrete, low-impedance Fet buffer with excellent sonic characteristics. High-quality paper-in-oil coupling capacitors are used, and all other components used are also high-end quality.
Low Noise / Low ESR Power Supply:
For single-ended preamps, the quality of the power supply is crucial. D2O is equipped with a discrete low-ESR voltage regulator built with low-noise components, allowing for optimal performance of the amplifier circuitry.
Switchable Transformer Ratio / Input Impedance:
By switching the transformer ratio, you can choose between a 1:1.75 (LO) or 1:3.5 (HI) transformer ratio. In addition to setting the voltage gain, this also switches the input impedance of the amplifier between 2.25 KOhm and 6.25 KOhm. Different transform rates and impedance selections are highly desirable, as they allow for more sonic possibilities of the connected microphone.
Selectable All-Fet or Tube-Fet Switching:
The Tube-Fet switch determines whether the D2O operates as a Hi-Gain, All-Fet, or Hybrid Tube-Fet circuit, each with its own unique sonic character.
