Can the radio system be operated without registration?

The digital SM and Beta radio systems transmit in the worldwide 2.4 GHz range without registration and can therefore be used free of charge. They are therefore not affected by the expansion of the LTE network in Germany.

Does digital sound better than analogue?

Yes, for several reasons: The digital radio system works without companding and is therefore free of audible artifacts. The transmission range extends from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and thus covers the entire audible range. A comparable analog system only covers the range from 45 Hz to 15 kHz. The sound is extremely clear and linear and indistinguishable from the sound of wired microphones. The dynamic range is significantly larger than with an analogue radio system (120 dB to 100 db).

The digital radio system combines unique automatic frequency management and True Digital Diversity for interference-free transmission. In the event of a frequency interference, LINKFREQ automatically and inaudibly switches to a free frequency.

The system is also protected against WLAN interference. Conversely, the radio system does not interfere with the existing WLAN.

Another advantage of LINKFREQ is the linking of transmitter and receiver. This allows you to seamlessly change the frequency or change the gain setting directly on the receiver.

How many systems can be operated simultaneously?

Depending on the operating mode, up to 8 systems can be operated simultaneously. In "Max Channel Mode" LINKFREQ is deactivated, so up to 8 systems can transmit simultaneously. This mode should only be used in a controlled WLAN environment. LINKFREQ is activated in "Automatic Mode". Up to 5 systems can be operated simultaneously. This mode is the safest, since backup frequencies are available, which can be used in case of disturbance. In the second "Automatic Mode" up to 4 systems can be operated simultaneously, but still with the advantage of reduced latency.

What charging technology does the SM86 wireless microphone offer?

The digital transmitter works with environmentally friendly Shure lithium-ion batteries. The batteries offer a battery life of up to 16 hours. 15 minutes charging with the power supply or directly in the receiver already brings up to 1.5 hours runtime. The battery is fully charged after only three hours. The remaining battery life is displayed on the receiver's high-resolution LC display in hours and minutes.

With a USB cable, the batteries can also be charged in the transmitter, e.g. directly on the PC or with the optional car charger in the car while driving to the gig. Each battery has a lifetime of up to 10,000 hours. This corresponds to approximately 2,500 disposable batteries.
